London...

I headed into work this morning, kick my computer into life, and the first thing I see is about the London Underground bombings. This is one of those large socially changing events that you expect you would hear on the radio on the way to work. I never did hear that, and I was listening to a news station. I don’t remember what kind of coverage 9-11 got on such stations, but this is a very similar type of event. I would expect that one would at least hear about it once in 15 minutes worth of news listening (stupid trains going really slow making my normal 2 minute drive much longer!) It’s sad that I heard more about some celebrity then I did about real news, and perhaps is telling about the priorities some of our society place on current events.

My deepest condolences to those who were involved, and their families, and all of the people of England who have to deal with this horrific incident.

I am also saddened by knowing there will be people that will use this tragic incident to promote their political agenda, rather then standing united together and presenting a united and strong front. I do have to admire the British, as they were able to regroup, get the trains running again, and reacted as professionally as they could. I can only hope that we here in the US will be able to react in a similar manner should such a horrible event take place here in the US. I think it is important to be able to get back to normal life, and not live our lives in fear. If we are able to continue to go about our lives, doing the things that we normally do, and not living in fear, we win period. Those fools who think that inflicting violence on innocents will further their extremist cause are living in a very delusional world. Acts such as this only serve to galvanize our resolve and spirit, and make us more determined not to give into the demands you wish to impose on us.
