Hot Air...

Just ran across this photo and thought some people might enjoy seeing this. This was taken at a Balloon Glow at Iowa Western Community College, Council Bluffs, Iowa In August of 2003. The balloonists wait till the sun is nearly down then all fire up their burners. The light from the burners illuminates the balloon, providing a really interesting sight. I liked the color of the sky and dark looming masses of the balloons.

The seocond shot is of the balloons with the burners lit. The colors of the balloons really stands out, looking very similar to those asian paper lanterns. The light is a very unusual light, as it is very diffused, multicolored, and flickering all at the same time. Very cool sight to see. I highly reccomend going to a hot air balloon glow if you get the chance.
